Exporting Education to Asia (1997) The rapid
expansion of post-secondary education in many
countries in Asia over the past decade has been
fuelled in part by exports of educational
services from many countries. But the East and
South Asian scene is now changing rapidly, as
local institutions mature, different skills are
needed and new delivery technologies are
emerging.
This
book examines the changing market for educational
services in a range of Asian countries, and the
strategies required for education providers to be
competitive in these countries. While written
from an Australian perspective, it will be of
considerable wider interest in Asia and in other
countries.
The author,
Ainsley Jolley, is an economist who has occupied
senior positions in many different spheres of
Australian life, such as Senior Lecturer in the
Department of Economics at the University of
Melbourne and Economic Advisor to the Australian
Treasurer. He is currently Director of the
Emerging Technologies and Asian Growth Project at
the Centre for Strategic Economic Studies.
