Australian climate policies

To succeed in implementing the next generation of climate policies in Australia after the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, much more systematic knowledge is required about the economic, social and political impact of specific policies, and about effective implementation in Australian conditions. Widespread dissemination of, and debate about, that knowledge is also necessary, to build a consensus for effective policy implementation. This stream will extend the recent work of the Centre, and its collaborators, on policy implementation within Australia, drawing in part on the detailed work being undertaken for specific policies for China.

Melbourne Climate Policy Forum, October-December 2009

After many years of debate, climate policy has moved squarely into the implementation stage. The next six months are critical in determining what policies will be put in place and how effective they will be in containing global warming. The Melbourne Climate Policy Forum (MCPF) hosted six briefing seminars on key policy issues facing Australia, set in the context of the global decision making process.
